A government contractor contacted MRT Range looking for a specialized blank-fire testing environment to support equipment evaluation, training simulations, and operational testing. Their team required a controlled indoor space capable of safely handling repeated blank-fire use while minimizing excessive sound transfer and maintaining proper air circulation for personnel safety and comfort. Traditional shooting range layouts with shooting stalls, bullet traps, and target retrieval systems were unnecessary for their specific application, so they needed a custom-built solution tailored to their operational requirements.
MRT Range designed and delivered a fully customized blank-fire testing range based on our proven modular range construction platform. Unlike a traditional live-fire range configuration, this system was intentionally built as an open testing environment without shooting stalls, shooting shelves, bullet traps, or target retrieval systems, allowing the customer maximum flexibility for equipment testing, training exercises, and operational movement throughout the space.
The range incorporated our Industry Leading particle filtration system with 99.99% efficiency at 0.3 microns and a fully enclosed design to help manage smoke, airborne particulates, and ventilation requirements generated during repeated blank-fire operations. MRT also implemented specialized sound attenuation improvements within the floor and ceiling systems to further reduce sound transmission and improve the overall acoustic performance of the facility during high-volume testing scenarios.
The fully enclosed structure provided the customer with a secure, climate-controlled environment capable of supporting year-round operations while reducing external noise impact on surrounding facilities. By utilizing MRT’s modular construction approach, the customer was able to deploy the solution faster and with significantly less site disruption compared to conventional construction methods.
The final result provided the government contractor with a purpose-built blank-fire testing facility specifically engineered around their operational needs, delivering improved safety, enhanced acoustic control, cleaner air quality, and a highly adaptable interior testing space for ongoing training and evaluation activities.
