Job completed for Gunsmith

Completion date: November 24, 2025

Location: Fletcher, NC

Why did the customer contact us?

A gunsmith contacted MRT Range looking for a dedicated indoor shooting environment to support firearm testing, diagnostics, sight-in work, and customer demonstrations. Their business required a safe and professional solution that would allow them to test repaired and customized firearms on-site without relying on outdoor ranges or third-party facilities. They also wanted the ability to provide customers with a controlled environment for function testing and evaluation while maintaining year-round operational capability regardless of weather conditions.

Solutions provided:

MRT Range provided the customer with a 53’ Groundhog turnkey indoor shooting range solution designed to support the day-to-day operational needs of a professional gunsmithing business. The Groundhog features a fully enclosed ballistic steel shooting environment utilizing ballistic steel that is 7.62x51mm 149 grain, M80 FMJ tested, delivering enhanced safety and durability for continuous firearm testing operations.

The range includes an Industry Leading particle filtration system with 99.99% efficiency at 0.3 microns and a fully enclosed design, helping maintain cleaner indoor air quality for both employees and customers during extended shooting sessions. Advanced acoustic sound attenuation reduces exterior sound levels to approximately 76 dB, minimizing disruption to neighboring businesses and surrounding properties.

The integrated sloped rubber berm bullet trap system reduces lead fragmentation while simplifying maintenance and cleanup, making the range well suited for regular firearm diagnostics and testing. The system also includes Caliber Target Retrieval Systems for reliable target operation, a mini split heating and air conditioning system for year-round comfort, electronic locking systems for enhanced security, sealed rubber flooring for durability and ease of maintenance, and a fully enclosed insulated structure designed for dependable daily commercial use.

Because the 53’ Groundhog utilizes a Single Phase 50 Amp 208/220 RV-style power connection, installation was significantly simpler and more cost-effective than many traditional indoor ranges that require expensive 3-phase power infrastructure. The modular design also reduced construction timelines and allowed the customer to begin operations much faster than with conventional construction methods.

The final result provided the gunsmith with a professional in-house testing facility that improved workflow efficiency, enhanced customer service capabilities, supported firearm demonstrations and diagnostics, and created an additional value-added service for their business.
